30-24 Carolina: Sweaty palms all around

The Panthers just saw their lead sliced into once again by Drew Brees, who is just having a sensational game. On fourth-and-2 from the Carolina 9, Brees rolled right and found Lance Moore for the touchdown.

Now, with 5:28 to go, Carolina is clinging to a 6-point lead. In another part of the country, Atlanta and St. Louis are locked in a 24-24 battle, but Carolina can't worry about that now. The Panthers need to make some first downs. DeAngelo Williams, who had 143 rushing yards in the first half, has only had about 20 in the second so far.

what is happening to our Offensive Line?

I swear I am watching a replay of last week. Big first half and in the second half the defense starts giving up points and the offense stops trying to score. This team can not put two good halves together.

For the second consecutive week the Carolina offense has gone way too conservative with the lead and now, after a bad punt, the Saints can go ahead with a TD and PAT.

Scott, thanks for the updates! We're Winthrop faculty members following the game online from San Francisco (professional meeting) and we can't get updates on TV here--the Raiders are on...Go Panthers!

I am not going to call for everyone to get fired or anything but it seems like the Panthers can't close out teams at all and never have been able to under Fox. They can't handle prosperity.

Bgf...could we "close out" Chicago and New York on the road the last time we were in the playoffs? How about Dallas, STL, and Philly the time before that? Just checking, because I think we had the same coach then as we do now, the same coach who's led us to 12 victories, a division crown, and the #2 seed in the conference this year.
