New Orleans whips Carolina 34-3

New Orleans dismantled Carolina, 34-3, Sunday in Charlotte -- totally dominating the game after an early Carolina field goal gave the Panthers a short-lived 3-0 lead.

It was another embarrassing afternoon for the Panthers, who dropped to 1-7 with what was statistically their worst loss of the season. New Orleans improved to 6-3 and gave Carolina quite a beating compared to the 16-14 win the Saints eked out over Carolina a month ago in the Superdome.

What must Panthers owner Jerry Richardson think of what he has wrought?

Steve Smith never officially touched the ball for the Panthers in the first 59 minutes -- the one pass he caught when it mattered was negated by his own pass-interference penalty. He did catch a short ball in the final minute of play.

Carolina ended up playing three quarterbacks -- Matt Moore was hurt and Jimmy Clausen ineffective, so rookie Tony Pike finished up.

Pike had three series. His second series was somewhat more successful than his first -- Carolina moved the ball to around the New Orleans 20 -- but- then he took a sack on fourth-and-3 from the New Orleans 19 and the Saints took over again.

He got the ball back one last time with a minute to go at about midfield and got Carolina down to the New Orleans 13 with a 22-yard pass to David Gettis before running out of time at the New Orleans 9.

The Panthers, already the most impotent offense in the league, saw their average drop to 11 points per game (they now have 88 points in eight games, or about what a halfway-decent NBA team scores on one good night).

Jerry Richardson should publicly apologize to the City of Charlotte for the pathetic product he's putting on the field. It's beyond a joke.

I've said every since the Panthers drafted Clausen that he isn't NFL material and again today he solidified that. The excuse that he gives that he is a rookie will not fly. Colt McCoy, snother rookie QB had a great game and has played NFL caliber ball every game he has been in. Clausen just lowered his QB rating, the good thing is since is rated worse in NFL, he can't go lower

We are a joke this year! Hey, Jerry if you want to have fans stay later than the 3rd quarter, put together a team that can compete.

I completely blame Richardson, and lets not forget they don't even have a second round pick because of a genius trade for Armanti Edwards. This is awful and the entire management team needs to get torn down.

Colt M is a west coast QB, y'all would bash him playing with this elementary school offense.

JR probably had somehting to do with Hurney surrendering a 2nd round pick. He is as well in the draft room on draft day.

Drafting hometown players, just to make more money.

Jerry Richardson, Marty Hurney, and Don Gregory are all are stealing money from the us, the fans! This team they put togetner here in Charlotte couldn't compete against a UFL team. They are AWFUL! I can't wait for the NFL lockout to happen! Richardson should sell this team to someone who cares about winning. The Panthers SUCK!

Scott, I thought I saw it all today. I have club PSLs and the band in the club area played "When the Saints Come Marching In". Good grief.

I also heard on the radio a couple of Saints themes songs, 1 was "there is a house, in New Oleans, its called the rising sun". I was wondering why they would be playing Saints music at the Panthers stadium. I just cant figure it out. Maybe some of these C.O. "reporters" can ask about that when they are doing their jobs this week.

I have said it before and I will say it again. The Panthers O would go three and out against the Butler High School Bulldogs D. You have to give credit to the Panthers D. They come to play week in and week out. You have to feel bad for the D. Oh yeah. THANKS Jerry!

Jerry Richardson knows that he can do what he wants and after the lockout he will get fans back. This year we are just screwed because he really does not care AT ALL. It's so bad, I don't even know who to blame anymore, we are a joke of the league and he's fine with it. PATHETIC!! Shame on you Jerry.
