Panthers lose 31-16 to Bucs

Carolina dropped to 1-8 this season today with a 31-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who improved to 6-3.

The Panthers were within 21-16 as the fourth quarter began, but got outscored in the fourth quarter 10-0 to lose. On their final drive, they got down to the Bucs' 1, then ran two straight QB sneaks with Jimmy Clausen, who couldn't get over the line on either play.

After Clausen's second unsuccessful sneak, Steve Smith got called for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.

The killer play was when, on third-and-10 with 2:52 to go in the game and Tampa up 24-16, Cadillac Williams broke a 45-yard run against the Panthers' defense. That put the game out of reach.

That wasn't a cheap shot, he was trying to get the defender who gave Clausen a helmet to helmet hit, watch the game DA.

hilarious. Among the Panthers, the Bobcats, the United Way, The Charlotte Visitor's Bureau guy (or whatever that downtown organization is called) taking his girlfriend to lunch on expense money, the Child and Protective Services money laundering/stealing, etc, etc, the powers that be in Charlotte now have what they have always wanted. Charlotte is a World Class City...full of losing sports teams and questionalbly ethical government officials. How nice for us all.

9 games, 9 TDs. How does Davidson still have his job as OC? Panthers are officially the worst team in the league.

Not really; both are tied 1-8-0.

Defense and Offensive play calling killed us today. Smith's shot was in retaliation for the cheap shot delivered by Talib....people really need to watch the game before making stupid comments.

Garinger HS could beat the pathetic Panthers. Clausen is about the worst QB in the NFL. Smith is past his prime and still can not control his temper. and YES, it was a cheap shot

If Cowboy's win today, the Panthers will have a record all to themselves. The Worst record in the entire NFL for the season

Buffalo's win was outside the conference, the Panthers beat the 49ers, so Buffalo is still the worst team. Dallas is challenging for 2nd place however.

What a Joke of a Team said...

Hurney, Gregory, and Morrison are the BIGGEST LOSERS in the NFL

Panthers are the worst with only 104 points scored all year
