5 things I didn't like in 20-10 loss to Rams

I'm back from a week off and see that the Panthers have managed to look awful once more in my absence. Far be it from me to waste a "5 things" opportunity, even if I only watched this game on TV, so here goes:

The 5 things I liked least in Carolina's 20-10 loss to St. Louis:

1) David Gettis. After a breakout performance the week before (125 receiving yards, two TDs), Gettis didn't catch a single pass, ran a reverse for minus-11 yards and seemed to get literally knocked off his game by the Rams' physical corners.

2) Jonathan Stewart. Yeah, I know, the offensive line isn't giving him much of anything. But geez -- I'm thinking No.28 is hurt more than he lets on. He doesn't seem near as powerful or explosive as last season, and it's to the point now where if he gets more than three yards on any carry I'm stunned.

3) Matt Moore. Ohmigosh. Can No.3 not stand even the faintest hint of prosperity? It's almost like Jimmy Clausen needs to play the first series of every game so Moore doesn't have the "I'm the guy" pressure build up.

4) Turnovers. How is it that a rookie QB can have zero turnovers against a relatively good defense like Carolina's and the Panthers can have 4 turnovers against the Rams?

5) NFC South standings. Do you realize the other 3 teams in the division all have 5 wins, and here Carolina is sitting at 1-6? For that matter, do you also realize that every other NFL team has at least gotten into double figures in terms of total touchdowns this season, but Carolina is stuck on eight TDs after seven games?

Do you also realize the Panthers are last in points scored - 85... next above them? Cleveland with 118, at this rate the Browns can be shut out 3 times in a row and the Panthers still won't pass them.

Yesterday's game convinced me that the calibre of players we have is extremely low. The coaching staff tried some trick plays for once and the players just couldn't pull them off. Poor talent on the team. Also, if the running didn't always go up the middle, maybe we would gain some yards running. What an embarrasment this team is to the fans of the Carolinas.

I love JStew, I wish he was good as DeAngelo...or at least better, you couldnt ask for a better man as far as character, etc..but he is hurt too much and i have to question why the Panther continue to draft players w/ known health issues...i say trade him while we can...and maybe smith too...as much as i hate to think about it.

only 5 things?
The first 3 things of your 5 are pretty much all because of the play calling.
After that first series it is just disgusting that you will Run the ball on 1st down every first down until you have put your team in a hole and then try and change plays up to be aggressive(classic Fox philosophy).
Here's the thing if Fox and Davidson together cannot figure out that running every first down is putting the offense in a hole from the start than....

Look I give up!! There is so much blame to go around to Everyone.

If you look at last weeks play calling it was not changed by much, but enough to allow some doubt in the defense on exactly what we would do. "Keep defense honest."

No way you let deangelo go. Lets trade stewart. He has something serious going on this year like peppers did a few years. He is not what he was a year ago. I hate that they won't tell us what injury is holding him back. To put it bluntly Jstew sucks this year.

i have one comment i've made for the past 5 years -- trade steve smith. he is the problem. the qb's waste their alotted time waiting for him to get open. he's not a good route runner. he's dbl teamed. or sandwiched in zone coverage and he is too short to force the ball into. he drops too many. he is a kickoff returner and has not learned anything about being a receiver since ricky proel retire. if he were not the qb's ordered 1st choice they could spread the ball around and be effective. you won't hear from me again until next year when i send in the same comment.

Time to sign Randy Moss

Ok this made me laugh....Sure lets sign RM....We haven't talked about anyone quitting on plays since JP left....

I say sign him ASAP....double standards on this board make me smile...

The Panthers were horrible...no actually HORRIBLE this weekend...If those "trick" plays were designed to be our "treat" for our Halloween Delight ....they failed miserably.

JStew and DLo.....wonder what sort of nicknames we are looking to give them this year???

Just a complete MESS....

What a let down. I mean, I didn't have any illusions after our win last week that this was a team capable of pulling off 10 straight wins. But I thought at least they might have turned the awful corner onto mediocre street. Instead, they pulled a u-turn.

And amazingly, it only took the VERY FIRST THROW for us to sink the ship. My God - I've been watching football a long time but I don't think I've ever seen an offense go down in flames so quickly before. I'd argue that we were better with Jeff Lewis under center. Yeah, that's right. I said we were better with Jeff freakin' Lewis. That's bad.

***Sigh***. I need a drink. Any Panther fans wanna join me?

Haha...I like those....just crazy how 100+ yards a game, has turned into struggling to get two and three yards a carry <:-(

As for the drink I think many of us Panther fans have had a few and will probably have a few more before this season is over...

I'm still in AWE....of those trick plays we capitalized on...NOT..

I mean seriously I think us WOMEN playing in a Powder Puff game could have done better than that....Just saying!!!!

Cheers til next Sunday

Ps....Curtis loving the new pic <:-)

Ha ha ha, yes Jen, they make me laugh too! "2 homie males in luv". Wow. It is definitely too stupid to respond to, but certainly worth a laugh.

Anyways, re: the picture change, muchas gracias! I actually was forced to take the other one down by Smokey...he said he had enough of his picture wearing the Panthers jersey being on here. Besides, my 68 SS makes me smile...the Panthers, not so much.
