More folks starting to notice Panthers...

The evidence comes in dribs and drabs -- I still think Tennessee (9-0) and Carolina (7-2) are the two teams that have the greatest disparity between their record and how good the general public/media thinks they are. Here's a link to the current NFL standings.

And here's something: The Panthers' Nov.23 game at Atlanta has been moved from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. so it can be shown to a wider audience on FOX. Atlanta (6-3) has been a major surprise too and so that game sounds a lot better now than it did over the summer.

I also think the Panthers' game Dec.21 vs. the New York Giants will be moved -- that one's a road game, too. It's currently a 1 p.m. start -- I would think it will go into either the 4:15 p.m. or the 8:30 p.m. slot for TV purposes instead. That game will be huge. It could determine who gets homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and at the very least will have some sort of major playoff implications.

sort of off-topic, but i gotta say this is probably the most uncomfortable i've ever felt about seeing the panthers leading the division, not because of carolina's performance, but rather because there just seem to be so many good teams in the NFC this year, esp in the south, that no division lead or playoff spot seems safe. based on the standings, it looks like the 2 wild-card teams in the NFC will come from the east and south, one from each division, unless washington implodes or philly stops shooting itself in the foot. that means carolina needs to either win the division or be second, which is harder than i think it's ever been, even with a 7-2 record...tb right behind us currently owning the tiebreaker, atlanta coming on REAL strong and undefeated at home (and they could very well be 7-2 also if they didn't get jobbed by that poor call against philly). not to mention after detroit, every game following will be against a team fighting either for their playoff lives or home-field advantage, with the majority away, where we haven't been that good this year. so this must be what the AFC felt like for the past couple years...

this really is shaping up to be one of the most exciting regular-season finishes in panther history. hopefully it will be one of the more successful ones too!

craig, I don't think anybody on the team minds. We'd rather fly under the radar all the way to the Super Bowl.

here is what would make most panther fans happy with regards to the media: fox TV carries most games because of NFC coverage so even though broadcasters are dictated by some regional travel basis garbage, we would love to hear, just once, some straight forward postive comments about jake (brian billick, fired coach, pronounced his name repeatedly DELL-home in two different games), the DB coverage (matt varsegian?, whose backround is baseball no less, thanks FOX TV, in the cardinals game stated a "unnecessary penelanty on the panthers give another 15 yards" on a boldin catch early when the flag was on THE CARDNIALS) and the pass game (billick, fired coach, called steve smith STEVEN to many times to count in the raiders game). my point is we know that dick stockton has a script to read during the san diego game and has to get ladainien tomlinson's name metioned x-number of times because of his campbell soup contract and everyone must know how great they were, but are they not "play-by-play" analysts who should report unbiased info and give the panthers their due and leave it at that rather then tag on "yeah but..." stuff all game. look i dont really care for dick nixon and eugene robinson's local coverage by radio, and would love to hear good comments on TV, but panther fans deserve to hear better the FOX TV is giving us. ball-dinger? varsigian? sam rosen? tony friggin boselli?
