Did Panthers get jobbed on Pro Bowl?

Four quick thoughts on the Carolina Panthers and the Pro Bowl -- the Panthers got DE Julius Peppers in as a starter and RB DeAngelo Williams in as a reserve on this year's team.

1) I'm not crying a river for LB Jon Beason not making it this season. He's been very consistent and occasionally spectacular, yes, but inside linebacker is pretty loaded in the NFC. You could not only could make a case for Beason as getting snubbed, but just as much if not more so for Washington's London Fletcher (as my friend Clark Judge of CBS Sportsline does here).

2) DeAngelo Williams, a first-time Pro Bowler, deserved to make it, but this should be his second berth in the game, not his first. DeAngelo actually had a better season in 2008, when he became the most egregious Pro Bowl snub I can remember (Clinton Portis got in over DeAngelo, which was ridiculous).

3) If Jonathan Stewart started and Williams was his backup, then Stewart would be celebrating a Pro Bowl spot right now, not his buddy No.34. Stewart, as we've seen in the past two weeks, is just as good when featured in the lead role as Williams (and, in certain situations, even better). In fact, I think right now the Panthers have two of the best 10 backs in the NFL on their roster. Double Trouble, indeed.

4) So Julius Peppers got an additional $1.5 million -- on top of the $1 million per game he's already earning this season -- because he made the Pro Bowl. Geez, that's CEO money, isn't it? Wouldn't you like to just get Peppers' bonus one year -- not his salary, but just his bonus? In any case, that's the way the contract was worded -- not Peppers' fault, although for $1 million a game I would expect a guy to make the Pro Bowl and not pay him extra to do so.

While early in the year I wouldn't have put Peppers on the Pro Bowl team -- he was playing like he didn't want to get hurt or get his uniform dirty back around the time of the Dallas game in late September -- he absolutely deserved this spot. Peppers has had 10.5 sacks and some absolutely monumental games this season (Arizona, Minnesota) and there's no better DE in the NFC except, possibly, Minnesota's Jared Allen.

J.Allen has looked ordinary the last few weeks. On top of that, Pep outplayed him when the two teams faced off. If they offered me (or you) the money, I'd take it. In other words, stop the hate, and congratulate!

Wow Mr. Scott I'm not even gonna ask how much that hurt you to write that last sentence... lol...

And to think he not only got his uniform dirty, he ended up breaking his hand....Did you jinx him lol

However...I still make a case for Beason....He has my vote...

Congrats to Pep and DeLo though....and I agree about Stewart Double Trouble has defintely stamped their name of approval as elite running backs in the NFL...

How do you get JOBBED is that when Coach Fox finally made him do his job or when Beason called him out and reminded him he had a job?

I imagine Peppers works harder every day than most sportswriters at the Observer do. I mean, one 30 minute blog post which nobody bothers to proofread, and you're done for the day, right?

What about Brad Hoover at FB? What makes the Philly guy better? We have TWO 1,000 yard backs, Philly's highest is 633. We are 3rd in rushing, Philly is 21st. Hoover and Beason (second time Beason got jobbed) were both deserving.

This is a TRAVESTY! Peppers didn't even show up until about game 4. Beason is, by far, the best player on the team. Peppers earned about a million dollars per tackle in the first half of the season. What a joke.

Peppers has earned his spot in the pro bowl, he has 10.5 sacks & played with a broken hand. People say he takes plays off, they really are ignorant, he gets double teamed almost every game the entire game. Not getting a sack does not mean youre taking a game off it means he took 2 of their linemen to defend against him, freeing up other players on our defense. Also, if you are double teamed 3 plays in a row, how much do yu have left to give your "all" for the next play? While it may look like he isnt giving all, if he is there in the line, he is causing the other team to worry. I dont agree that he deserves that much money for a year of playing, but he is 1 of the best in the league, and who here wouldnt try & make as much money as you could for playing?

It is shocking WR Smiths name didnt surface after such a stellar season since a poster mentioned QB Delhomne but its all about Ws as we know. Beggars get scraps and a bone if they lucky.

Not sure what Julius' salary has to do with his making the pro bowl. I have noticed you can't mention him without talking about how much money he makes. Jealous much???

Jennifer- you sure are Pro Peppers- wonder why? Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. I think Beason should have gone instead of Pep- afterall, he was the one who had to call Pep out. Maybe Pep will buy another purple Mazerati to match the one he alread has- Prima Donna. I sure hope he is NOT a Panther next year.

If youre such a genius jacktard lets hear why...

You of course could give your ignorant answer, but for most that I post on this blog with, already know its because I cheered for Julius all during middle and senior high at Southern Nash...

So yes Bailey might be small, but he isnt the only one that was born and raised there...

So take off that genius cap and replace it with a dunce one and start reading the blogs more and you would have known the "real" answer years ago, since I been coming to Scott Says...

Now the next time you address me, know what youre talking about...until keep those hater blockers on...because I will support JP, no matter where he plays...

Understood?

If anyone got jobbed it was Fletcher and Beason. Beason was the workhorse for the Carolina Defense this year. As for Peppers their isnt a team in the NFL, that wouldnt want him as a teammate, and I think they might get that chance next year.
To the anonymous jerk that called out our lady friend that post on here, I would remain anonymous because she just made you look like a complete moron.
