You know that poor #Panthers tackling? Still a MAJOR problem

The Panthers just went down 14-0 in their preseason game against Pittsburgh, and the way they did it was disturbing.

OK, let's set the scene. It's already 7-0, Pittsburgh, midway through the first quarter. The Steelers get the ball at Carolina's 35 because Panther QB Josh McCown gets stripped on a pass play and fumbles it away.

So Pittsburgh puts all its second-stringers in on offense, and Carolina KEEPS all its first-stringers in on defense. Mismatch, right?

And it was -- in Pittsburgh's favor. The Steelers slammed the ball into the end zone, with the final 10 yards coming on Isaac Redman's 10-yard run in which he broke or ran through five attempted Panther tackles (including Chris Harris and Julius Peppers).

The Panthers first-string offense can only watch this. It's already been retired, with 8:36 left in the first quarter, after two possessions and one first down. Not much of a night so far unless you're a Steelers fan, and there are a ton of them here.

Scott are you beginning to see the reasoning behind the panic?

This team wins five games at best. Run, run, run doesn't win football games.

And here's a joke for you.

Question: What was the best signing of the off season for the Atlanta Falcons?

Answer: Jake Delhomme for four more years in Carolina!

Ha ha ha ha, that joke was so funny, you moron.

By the way, the best football teams are the ones that can run, run, run

yeah, Scott, it's PRESEASON. Weren't you chastising all of us for noticing problems a week or so ago? I mean, it's not like Steve Smith hitting Lucas or other bad things that happened in the past. Call the Panther front office and get your new talking points.

oh my gosh, the first comment was one of the smartest things i've ever read! ha ha. run, run, run only won the panthers 12 games last season! but, you are right, it doesn't win football games....the panthers have been to 2 NFC Title game and a superbowl with that philosophy...you are so smart. and your comment about jake delhomme was even funnier. thanks for the laugh.

You Einsteins have to realize that Jake Delhomme has been in a tailspin since the Arizona game.
And you think Jake is the answer to eight in the box that Philly and every other team we play will present to Mr. Can't Thro Delhomme?

Trust me Jake's done. D-O-N-E done.

All run no pass? Since when? Trent Dilfer?

See: Rothisburger-Super Bowl XLIII to see what a quarterback is supposed to look like.

Look at your TV! Punt, punt, fumble, punt, fumble.

Five games at best.

Unbelievable.

Quick stat folks.....every time the Panther have went 0-4 in the preseason, they have gone onto to a 7-9 record! Our defense looks absolutely pathetic. Meeks needs to be fired immediately. His defense isn't innovative, intimidating or good. He wasn't good in Indy and he's going to suck here. His only positive is he looks like a perfect spokesman for Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull! Go away Meeks, you blow!

Big Ben is a horrible QB. He's blessed to have a tremendous defense and a good running game. Big Bin throw an average of 18 passes a game? Who in the hell couldn't be efficient doing that?

Jake had a 106 passer rating against Baltimore's defense last weekend! Jake needs a defense to keep the offense off the field and into good field position. He's not an elite QB, but he is a good QB.

Well folks, look at the bright side......Fox will be fired after a horrible year and we can finally hire Cowher!

I don't want Cowher. He had some of the best teams in history and could only win 1 ring. I think I'd rather take my chances with Shannahan. Talk about a bad ass offense...

I still like Fox, and I hope he can turn this ship around before we play Philly. If we have a losing season this year, I think Fox will go the way of the Richardson brothers...

Anybody think trading Peppers for a chance to get Sam Bradford is a good idea? I do.

Ha, what idiot said teams that run don't win?

Do the Steelers run the ball? Did the Giants? HA!

Run well, stop the run, don't turn the ball over! It's a simple game if you can do those 3 things. Too bad we can't seem to do any of the 3 so far.

Panthers are a fracking joke!!!

I knew tackling would be a problem when all I kept hearing in camp was the defense trying to rip the ball

Meeks was Indy DC, they sucked on defense. Fox obviously wants a new scheme for our defense which is cover 2. So he hired a cover 2 guy. Seriously we have to get him out of here for he puts us in more holes when in those years we could be winning championships

You know since he been here we never had back to back winning seasons. Right now its just looking all bad

Coach Fox welcome back to the hot seat.

Every year I see they same ole crap. bandwagoneers and putz who jump ship. Its freakin' preaseason. The players who start dont give a crap. But I already know when the panthers show up week 1 and win, you haters will jump back on. Well, please, just keep walking to the next wagon and jump on theirs, cuz we dont need yall. STAT OFF.

I think 7-9 is a good bet this season, maybe even a stretch in the win column. I hate to say it but I just don't see good things happening this season. The defense looks absolutely horrible, especially the run d. Say what you will about Jake, but if he goes down our backups look far worse. I realize it is preseason and am hoping that there is a different team on the field against Philly than what we have seen in these last 4 showings.
