Panther ticket info update

Hi, guys: Thanks for coming by. I'm back from vacation with some news about Panther tickets...

The Panthers don't play a real game until Sept.13 this year -- a few days later than usual -- but there's a much closer date that will mean a lot to Panther fans.

On Saturday Aug.1 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, about 7,000 single-game tickets for each of the Panthers’ 2009 home games go on sale. (Lots of folks try to get online at www.Ticketmaster.com and simultaneously call into Ticketmaster when buying, which isn't a bad idea at all).

Panther ticket guru Phil Youtsey told me today that he expects the hottest sellers to be the regular-season games vs. Philadelphia (the season opener on Sept.13), Washington (Oct.11), Atlanta (Nov.15) and Buffalo (Oct.25).

“The Buffalo one surprises me,” Youtsey said, “but that’s what I’ve been hearing. There are a lot of transplants out there who want that game. Plus, it's a 4 p.m. start in October, which a lot of people like.”

Last year four games were sold out or practically sold out on the first day of single-game ticket sales. The tickets that go last, of course, are the meaningless preseason games that all NFL teams insist on charging full price for (that's a crock, and another story entirely).

Anyway, back to Aug.1st -- customers will be limited to buying a maximum of four tickets per game.

The Panthers didn’t raise single-game prices this year, so most of the available tickets will be upper-deck seats at Bank of America Stadium for $51 apiece. (There will also be a few lower-level tickets available at $90 apiece, but not many). The other 60,000-plus seats in the stadium are already reserved for season-ticket holders.

Youtsey said the Panthers are “very fortunate” to have such a passionate fan base. Season-ticket renewals in 2009 have hovered around 98 percent, which is consistent with what they’ve been for the past six years. Of course, the PSL concept helps that renewal number a bunch, too, because if you don't renew, you forfeit your PSLs.

There will be 14 billboards touting the big ticket sale that will go up next week around the Charlotte area. The billboards play off the NFL slogan of “Own the Moment.” The team decided against featuring one particular player on the billboards, going instead with a team logo and a pair of Panther eyes.

If they had featured one guy on those billboards, though, I bet it wouldn't have been Julius Peppers.

Just like every other year, the real fans won't get tickets. It's all about the money.

Just curious faith, what is your proposal so that "the real fans" get tickets???

At least you are not bitter faithplusnothing...

Why does faithplusnothing hate capitalism?

I agree Faith... I make a little more than minimum wage, support a family, and live in VA. Every year my wife and I save up all year to attend one game...And every year its the same ole story I'm told to sit down when I'm standing, be quite when I'm yelling, and everyone around me leaves a little after 1/2 time to watch the game from their trailer in the tailgating parking lots b/c its "too hot or too cold for them" Most of the real fans are content watching and yelling at the top of their lungs in bars, resturants, and their homes all across America... so all you wine and cheese PSL holders (not the few really cool ones who stay the whole time) how about selling your tickets to panther fans and not scalpers/the other team

Go Falcons

If you are such a "real fan" why not get a second part time job to buy tickets? Personally, I took out a loan to buy my psls in the upper deck and have to sell a couple games a year to be able to go to the rest. While I've been proactive in taking out a loan, you whine and complain.

Anyone who wants to go to the game bad enough can. Before I had my psls I would wait until the game started and buy tickets from scalpers when they were trying to unload them.

"passionate fan base"? Thats pretty funny. I guess they are passionate about their khakis, loafers and wine vintage.

For what its worth, last year I got tickets with plenty of time to get to my seat for kick-off to the Kansas City game for $10 and Atlanta for $15 each... stop complaining....

I agree with anonymous -
"Go Falcons - to hell"

Looking forward to October 25 when there are more Buffalo fans in the stadium than Panthers. Now thats a passionate fan base.

You have to be passionate if your a Bills fan b/c what else do you really have to cheer for besides spring coming and the bills

Every group of fans claim to be passionate, but when the team is loosing, KC, Cleveland, Buffalo (towards the end of the season when games were blocked due to a lake of ticket sales) we see empty seats. If the team wins, everyone is a fan. It took real fans to travel 3 hours to Clemson through 60+ Miles of construciton in Gastonia, Spartanburg, and Grenville to go to a game. The team was playing closer to Atlanta than Charlotte, yet they manage to draw 50K a game. And 1-15 aside, have had pretty good attendance. As for the cost, you can get cheap seats if you know how, I have manage tickets from scalpers for between $10 & $20. But a real fan will also enjoy watching the games on the tube. SO quite whining.

I've heard that if you Google search for live NFL games, you'll be able to watch blacked out games online. If you're having problems with your Computer, a company called ComputerRepairToday.com can fix your PC for alot less than others.

lets just give the tix away. We can also sign a bunch of scrubs from the UNC football team to play for us because the team won't be able to sign any talent. Stop complaining, there wouldn't be a decent team to cheer for if they didn't sell tickets.

If you really wanna go to the game just get your ticket from a scalper....They are out there to hustle so you can always get a good deal if you can talk a good game...Who cares about the PSL owners, most of us cant afford to do what they do but they are important to the survival of the team..So stop complaining, if you want to go to a game then it is possible to get in there every Sunday!

That's because Buffalo fans have nothing else to do with their time. It's a dead, garbage city so its residents have nothing else to do but watch the Bills (Boy I Love Losing Super Bowls).

It's funny you say that. I've lived in both Buffalo and Charlotte, and to be honest, there's a lot more to do in Buffalo than there is in Charlotte. It's a much more cultured city.

October 11th I expect to see tons of REDSKINS fans. Lets turn the BOA into FedEx Field South.

obama should make rich people share their seats with me! if it's a hot chick's seat she can sit in my lap.

Passionate fan base, what a joke. The fair-weathers can't get there butts in the seats fast enough when the panthers are winning. But when the panthers suck you can't give the tickets away.

And the poor "true fans" just simply can't spell - REF: PhotoMatte.

I have been a PSL holder since inception. Those of you that complain when you can't buy tickets because PSL holders sell to scalpers / the highest bidder need to remember when the Panthers go 1 and 15, no one wants to go when we have a mediocre 7 & 9 team either.

I look at selling to the highest bidder as making back the money I lost when we went 1 and 15. Maybe if a real fan had offered me face value for tickets during the year of Weinke I'd think differently. However, behind the this "real fan" nonsense is only someone looking for a freebie.
