Stephen Curry, rap star??

OK, the words "Stephen Curry" and "rapper" probably don't mesh too well in your mind.

But the former Davidson basketball star has a fun side, on display in this YouTube video posted a couple of days ago where he plays a supporting role (wearing big black glasses at one point). Curry's only solo comes about a minute into this 5-minute rap, which is basically a shout-out to the Davidson "Commons," the on-campus place where Curry loves to eat (along with a lot of other Davidson students, apparently).

Curry actually mentioned in his "I'm going to the NBA" press conference that he didn't decide to leave Davidson for good until he was eating an omelet at Commons with current Davidson starter Stephen Rossiter the morning of the press conference.

Rossiter has a bigger part in the video. It's G-rated and the chorus is kind of catchy... "Man, I love Commons..." The song is a remix of the rap "I Love College."

Again, here's the link.

HAHA - The kid will have zero street cred! This will follow him his whole career!

Does the "kid" care? His career will amount to plenty regardless. I think that Step would rather have done this video with his friends and have "zero street cred" rather than be regarded as poorly as someone like Alan Iverson.

The only street cred that matters is the street that is paying money. And he's certainly on that street.

Two things:

Does Fowler realize that this is a spoof of a popular song entitled "I Love College"?

And does anybody find the irony that Steph Curry is more of an awkward white-guy rapper than the actual awkward white-guy rapper who wrote the song in the first place?

Don't think Curry has a rap career in his future...

But that Caribbean dude at the end was surprisingly pretty good.

Where are you DeJourMan? Are you doing some rapping? Thanks for the nice comments.

I officially cant hold out for this smart phone, just 2 days remaining and I simply hope I could get my hands on one,. I have been reading a lot about the Android two.2 update that can come in August, simply another reason to be psyched about this excellent phone. Motorola and Verizon say they will update the phone to Android 2.2 late summer. It will certainly be an over-the-air update. However out-of-the box on its July 15 launch it will probably have Android 2.1.
