Some significant numbers for the 2-6 Carolina Panthers halfway through the season (my "midpoint of the season" column can be found here):
0 -- Number of Panther running backs in the top 30 in the NFL in rushing yards per game (DeAngelo Williams ranks highest, at No.32, with 45.4 yards per game).
11 -- Passing TDs for the Panthers this season. Carolina had nine passing TDs in all of 2010.
14 and 31 -- The Panthers' longest punt return and kickoff return, respectively, this season. The opponents' corresponding numbers are 89 (punt) and 78 (kickoff).
25.9 -- The number of points per game the Panthers have allowed. That is fifth-worst in the NFL. The Panthers have held an opponent under 20 points only once in eight games.
40 -- Number of passes Cam Newton has completed that have gone for 20 or more yards in the Panthers' vertical passing attack. That's No.1 in the NFL. The next highest is Houston's Matt Schaub, with 34.
65 -- Penalties called on the Panthers through eight games. This is second-worst in the NFL only to Oakland, which has 69. Some of the blame must go on the coaching staff for this stat. (Carolina is also second in yards penalized, with 560 compared to Oakland's 600).
2289 -- Total number of passing yards for Carolina last season in an entire 16-game season.
2393 -- Total number of passing yards for Cam Newton through eight games this season.

117 -- The number of 3rd and long situations our defense has allowed the other team to convert to first down.
I am very relieved to say we're, by choice, no longer in the "Luck Sweepstakes". Now perhaps we can get a great defensive player in next year's draft. Do we get a D-lineman or a D-back?
D-Back in the draft. We'll be fine with the young guys at DT, just need a veteran DT to help them. We had that til he got injured. The DT's will have had a year to get better too. I don't think that year will help Munnerlyn's cover skills or Gamble's tackling skills. Need some new blood there.
The Panthers need to bring back Trent Guy at PR/KR!!!!!
We need stud DT on next year first round pick. We need to stop run, our young DT couldn't stop the run or give any pressure to QB. Next year draft, would focus mostly on defense and special team.
Why not bring in Bernard Berrian for return specialist??? He is a threat, has had kick TD return(s). Could also be WR addition and a decent threat there as well. Not sure of the $$ but this cat can play.
We need to take the best defensive player available at our draft position, whether that be a DL, LB, or DB. We could use help at every position on defense. We should use a 3rd or 4th rounder on a return specialist, or see who is available in free agency.
699- Number of missed tackles when on defense this year!! (632 of those within 3 years of line of scrimmage!!!)
Can, He Hate Me, still return kicks?
what about picking up T.O
