Cam Newton says he will respond to Kaepernick mocking his Superman celebration

When San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick mocked Cam Newton and his Superman touchdown dance in the playoffs after scoring against the Panthers, Newton did not have much to say about it in the postgame.

On the set of NFL Network's "NFL AM" show in New York Thursday, Newton said a little bit more -- playfully.

"He hurt my feelings, and I think so highly of Mr. Kaepernick," Newton said with a big laugh.

Cam said there "will be" some sort of response to Kaepernick at some point but that people would have to wait and see what it would be.

Newton then lavishly praised all the current young quarterbacks in the NFL, including Kaepernick, Andrew Luck, RG3 and Russell Wilson. "I don't have no hate in my blood for nobody," Newton said. He added that he was "envious," but in a good way, of Wilson getting Seattle to the Super Bowl in his second season.

Newton is in town for the Super Bowl, and as part of that is doing some promotional work for Pizza Hut. Here's the link to Newton's appearance Thursday morning.

Very professional , Classy. Go Super Cam!

The response SHOULD have been during the game. However, the 49ers won and this should be a moot point. Waiting almost a month to "respond" is absurd. But this is today's athlete...everything needs a response.

I guess Cam Newton forgot that when he played against the Miami Dolphins(in Miami)and he scored the last touchdown, he did the "LeBron Dance" in the endzone. I guess it only bothers him when they do it to him. He needs to grow up. Oh and take a few grammer classes.

Hey Tvan, Cam didn't bring this up either time.

Cam was asked about Kaepernick mocking him during his press conference after the game by a reporter and Cam simply said that it wasn't the first and it won't be the last time someone does that.

This time he was asked by a reporter and he answered in a playful way.

So in truth he did not wait almost a month to respond as you say in your comment, and your "this is today's athlete...everything needs a response" statement is not only asinine but also totally false.

Your comment was 100% wrong.

Nice try though.

Leave Cam's grammar alone. If he ever wants to put something in writing, I'm sure he can afford to hire me.

As Dizzy Dean said, "It ain't braggin if you can do it."

At least this year Cam seemed to have grown up a little. He didn't do "Superman" when the Panthers were down about 100 points like he did last year.

The bottom line for me is that all athletes at all levels from little league through the pros need to stop celebrating every thing and act like they have been there before.

When Cam celebrates every dang first down he looks stupid.

Cams been on espn today as a lot of other players and everyone is having fun. If you watch any of it you would know Cam didn't bring it up. They been asking all the players questions like this.

Cam and LeBron are friends, and IIRC LeBron told him he should do it.

Back offf of Cam all you haters!!! You're pathetic, trying to criticize the man when he clearly had a playful tone. He was interviewed, not holding a presser to talk about his feelings. I'm so tired of hearing & reading ppl trying to bring him down over and over again, get a life!! He's not immature and there was nothing immature about his comments either. Cam has grown as a person and a player on the field and he's still young. He can speak however he wants, use as many double negatives as he wants, and he will always be more more successful than you, deal with it!! Players mock Cam all the time, he doesn't care. He outplayed Kaep in that game, and yhe first, check the stats. So if anyone was immature it was Kaep, but everyone loves to hate Cam. Cam IS the man, he IS a franchise QB, the face of the organization and I love it.
GO PANTHERS

To the commenter that said Cam looks stupid when he does his celebration on a first down....But I'm sure you're OK with Steve Smith getting up pointing to first down and spinning the ball. they all celebrate, i think you may just dislike Cam.
